Females are strong as hell (like Kimmy)

“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” will be returning in Netflix for Season 2 in April 15th and here’s the official  trailer Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2 Official Trailer. We first got acquainted with Kimmy’s weird story 1 season ago, when the cult was discovered and her with her fellow mole women saw the light of day  for the first time after 15 years in captivity. The storyline of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt combines the experiences of people who got involved in cults and were kidnapped under the premise of an apocalypse approaching with the story of Kimmy Schmidt ,a girl who survived life in the bank and starts  all over again, relocating to  New York City.

Kimmy’s story is essentially a  commentary on American values and the way women are perceived in American history and culture. It’s not by accident that those who were abducted by the head of the cult were women and were sexually abused by him. This is a rough story to tell, but the show tells it lightly because it’s a comedy sitcom.”Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” doesn’t teach us a lesson about feminism or move the conversation forward on feminist issues,it limits its potential on pointing out what’s already wrong.

Because that’s what women do

There are certainly some “hot” fields or subjects that demand our attention and Ellie Kimper in “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” certainly makes a strong case for all of them. Kimmy’s own personal story and her road to understanding the whole world after having missed 15 years of participating in it,is surely an inspiring one.Kimmy Schmidt is a one of a kind feminist character because her feminism doesn’t derive from knowledge but from nature.Everything she believes in comes from a life in the bank and her understanding of the world is pure and immature. Her ways our feminist and female empowering just because she doesn’t know any other ways.

Kimmy shakes the life of Titus, who is her gay black roommate and a self-proclaimed artist as well as the life of Jacqueline Vorheess an upper east side mother and wife. She serves as a source of inspiration and motivation for both of them because she thinks outside of the box and in this case the box is stereotypes, social norms, fears of what others will think, low self-esteem and self-pity.anigif_optimized-17079-1425930313-13
